We met with our Person-Centred Counsellor, Jeanette, who works with young people across Bay View to allow them to explore and utilise their own strengths and personal identity.
We found out more about Jeanette and her career to date.
“I graduated in 2012 as a Person-Centred Counsellor. My training was conducted within a substance misuse Rehabilitation Centre. During this time, each person was misunderstood due to their early years trauma and labelled as ‘the problem’.
This ‘attitude’ never sat well with me, therefore, I focused my career on helping children.
I believe if we have the core conditions of the person-centred approach during our childhoods, we will have a greater chance of becoming a successful adult.
I am passionate about every child understanding their early lives were stolen from them – each of them has their own story to tell.”
